Enjoying the entertainment

On the 18th July 2010 part of Winchcombe Road held a Big Lunch. This was an Eden Project initiative to encourage neighbours to all join for lunch on this day. Our lunch was a great success, not only did the sun shine but we had a great turnout to.

Everybody sat down at about 1 pm and enjoyed a selection of food from the communal barbecue to food they had brought themselves to share.

The children enjoyed the road closure by riding bikes and playing ball games, colouring in pictures and making cheerio necklaces. To finish the day we had a children's entertainer called Charlie Farley who had all of us up dancing and doing magic. It was definitely the highlight of the day.

This was a brilliant community event, and it does show there is some community spirit left.

Can't wait until next year.

A brilliant day, it was nice to see some community spirit, with the residents getting to know each other as everybody seems to keep themselves to themselves these days.Great food and great people. The children loved Charley Farley, as well as the adults, and he kept everyone entertained. The children could play on the street without the normal hazards of cars driving up and down. I am really looking forward to next years party.
