Fun in the war

We used to go out collecting shrapnel and caps - gun caps. (Jack Law)

During the war, children still had fun not realising the danger. Children helped out during the war delivering messages, helping in the hospital and also filling up fire buckets.

They gathered souvenirs from crashed aeroplanes and bomb craters collecting shrapnel and also added small flags to show which country the pieces they had collected came from. They enjoyed playing with tin soldiers and reading comics of war stories
